I thought that since I will be putting more concentrated efforts into my writing that I should share a bit about both myself and this space. I hope it will allow you to understand a bit more about me and the words I share here.
For as long as I can recall, I have loved books…and the idea of someday writing them. My entire life, my taste in books has been as widespread as my musical taste. Basically, I love it all - depending on my mood. I am afraid that is very apparent for anyone who has been from following me online for any length of time.
I always kept diaries and journals while growing up. They housed my secrets, my dreams and all of the plans I made for achieving the piles of things that I hoped to achieve while I walked this earth. Around late 1999, I was introduced to blogging. Yup. It’s been THAT long. (Doesn’t that make me some sort of pioneer?) The act of keeping my journals online - became my new passion….and I have been doing that since.
I was one of the few hundred who beta tested Facebook when it went public. I was one of the first on ICQ, Virtual Places and even Myspace. The idea of interacting and connecting with people from all over the globe while I was in my kitchen in Florida, was incredibly intriguing to me. Glamorous even.
Somewhere among the moments of raising 3 babies into adulthood, working through marriage, divorce and my second marriage, relocating to North Florida to start a homestead while we semiretired, I found the glamour of social media to be tiresome…but still had that need to blog/write.
Then I found Substack.
In choose to share all of the beautiful mess that is my life here. While also working to move all of the yers of my old pieces over so that they can all be in one giant messy pile.
Welcome to my big, beautiful glittery mess! I hope you will decide that I am sometimes worth some of your energy…or at least find joy in my antics of being a perpetual student of life as I grow my homestead and try to figure out how to be sort of retired while I take care of my widowed Dad and Mother in Law. (It’s a lot most days!)
